As autumn approaches, we're thrilled to share some exciting updates and new events. We’re launching several new projects, including our Digital Skills for Parents programme and the first of our Digital Inclusion Community Forums. We also are expanding our team and are on the lookout for passionate trustees to join our board. Read on to discover how you can get involved and help make a difference!

We are hiring new Trustees! 📣

Our current Board of Trustees and Senior Team

We at an exciting stage of growth, and we’re looking for passionate, motivated individuals to join our Trustee Board. This is a fantastic opportunity to help us increase our impact and ensure digital inclusion for everyone in our community.

We know that diverse groups of people make better decisions, and want our Board to look like and actively represent the community we serve, helping to ensure our team, ambitions and ways of working match our community’s needs.

We ask for a commitment of at least 3 hours a month, including attendance at quarterly in-person meetings in London. If you have experience in HR or business development, or lived experience of our work, we’d love to hear from you!

For more information, check out our recruitment pack on our website. If you would like to speak to an existing board member or our CEO to learn more, please get in touch. We look forward to hearing from you!

Digital Skills for Parents 💻

We're thrilled to be launching our next round of Digital Skills for Parents alongside ClearCommunityWeb later on this month. The first round of workshops will be at St Stephen's Children's Centre and focus on building foundational digital skills for parents.

During our last round of workshops 93% reported feeling more knowledgeable about using their laptop and going online as a result of the training . All agreed that their life is easier as a result of having their own laptop with and report feeling more socially included as a result of their engagement with the project.

We know collaboration is key to empowering individuals online and that with the right tools and opportunities we can help to overcome barriers that many in our community face.

“Thank you for providing such a phenomenal service to the community. We appreciate your hard work and support. You are all FANTASTIC!!!

Many thanks to the Walcot Foundation for their support.

We want to hear from you 👋

We're excited to be hosting our first Digital Inclusion Community Forum at our office on Tuesday 22nd October at 8:45am

We want to hear from our community organisations and individuals who use our service about their experiences. From making a request to taking part in our digital skills coaching sessions, we want to understand what's working and what's not. We also want to use it as an opportunity to share other local digital inclusion initiatives and share with you any updates from us.

Tea, coffee and pastries will be provided! Spaces are limited so please book using the link below.

Can't attend but have some feedback you want to share? Send us a message contact@communitytechaid.org.uk

New Drop Points in Southwark 📬

Thanks to the incredible support from Veolia and Material Focus, we’ve opened tech drop-off points in every library across Southwark!

From Walworth to Rotherhithe, it’s now easier than ever to donate your old tech at your local library. See if you can spot hypno-cat at your local bus stop! 🔍

In Southwark alone, there are an estimated 4 million unused electrical items sitting in drawers, with 39% of people opting to bin them rather than recycle or donate. By offering these convenient drop-off locations, we’re ensuring that your old devices get a second life and go to those who need them most.

Together, we can combat digital exclusion and reduce e-waste, building a more sustainable and connected future for our community.

If you have any unused devices, consider donating them at your nearest library drop-off!

It is thanks to your support that we are able to provide vital digital inclusion help to hundreds across Lambeth and Southwark. If you're interested in partnering with us, or have devices you no longer need, please get in touch!
